Emma's Birthday Celebrations

Emma's birthday was pretty low-key this year but she still seemed to really enjoy it.  The Sunday before her birthday we had my family over for dinner to celebrate the January (Emma and Kimberly) birthdays.  We opened presents from my parents via FaceTime and had cake as well.

My parents gave Emma a Queen Elsa dress-up and you can see that it was a big hit.  As soon as she put it on she requested to listen to Frozen music and gave us all quite the performance.  She is a funny little girl.  Now she will only listen to the songs that Elsa sings in if she is wearing her full costume.

On the day of her birthday, she woke up to balloons in her room, which she was thrilled about as usual.  It will be a sad day when my kids stop being pleased by such little things.  Kimberly came over and went to Chik-fil-a with us for lunch so the girls could play at the play place.  After lunch, Emma helped me make some cupcakes and we waited for Todd to come home so we could go on her Birthday Date.

We told her that instead of having a birthday party with friends she could go on a date with mom and dad and we would do whatever she wanted.  She chose to go see Frozen again.  The day before her birthday she said that she just really felt like Katelyn needed to come because it would be too sad if she had to stay home by herself so the whole family ended up going to see the movie.  What a thoughtful big sister.

When we were walking in there was a family walking out that saw Emma dressed up in her Elsa costume and one of the little girls yelled "look mom, it is the REAL Elsa!" Thank you Disney for making Elsa have white hair. Luckily we were the only ones at this showing which made it more ok for the girls to stand up in the aisles and sing and dance.

After the movie, we went home and had pizza for dinner. Tally and Abby came over to watch Emma open our presents to her.  The chalk board was a big hit.  After presents, we had cake and ice cream.  You will notice an outfit change halfway through.  About two months ago Emma asked for a fairy dress-up for her birthday and so I bought one.  This was all pre-Frozen of course so I was worried that she wouldn't want it anymore now that she is obsessed with Elsa.  She was still excited enough about it to have to put it on as soon as she opened it so I would call that a success.

Happy Birthday, Emma!  We love you and hope that you had a great day!
