December 23rd and 24th

On December 23rd, we spent the night up at the cabin.  We had dinner with my family, played games, and did our candle tradition.  Emma and Katelyn even put on a little play for us.  They wrote out parts for people and everything. They are the best sometimes! At Thanksgiving, our parents gave us a book called "21 Days Closer to Christ" and asked us to read it before Christmas. We all talked about our experiences with the book before going to bed.

In the morning we had our traditional Christmas breakfast, played in the snow, played games, and just enjoyed being together!

You can tell that Emma really, really enjoyed the sledding!

 

There was about 4+ feet of snow on the deck that my Dad spent a good amount of time shoveling.  We were happy to see that he left his crown from our breakfast poppers on for this round of shoveling.

After we cleaned up the cabin, we went home to go to a movie.  This year we went to see "The Good Dinosaur" it was a cute show that the girls enjoyed.  Miley mostly just liked the popcorn but she did a good job at not being too loud during the movie. 

After the movie, we headed home to get ready for Christmas!  We had dinner and opened our Christmas Eve jammies (it should be noted that Miley REFUSED to wear her new pajamas, she doesn't really like change) and got all ready for Santa.  Because Santa leaves his presents down in the basement all three girls had a sleepover in Miley's room upstairs.  They actually slept very well, it might have had something to do with the fact that they went to bed at 11:30 the night before at the cabin.

Emma wanted me to open a present from her so I would have something to open on Christmas Eve as well.

This was as good as it got this night. 

We were all very excited for Christmas the next day! After the kids were asleep Todd and I watched Elf while getting everything ready for the next morning and then went to bed.
