Emma is six!

Emma turned six on January 29th.  I can't believe that I have a six year old.  She is seriously one of the best people that you will ever meet and we are so happy that she is in our family.

Emma is such a selfless person.  She is constantly thinking about the needs and feelings of others before her own.  I don't know very many 6 year olds that do that and we are always so proud of her.  Sometimes it is hard to tell her that it is ok to make decisions based on what she wants occasionally.

Emma is a great first born.  She sets a great example for her siblings and is always helping me.  There are times when we are trying to get Miley to do something that she doesn't want to do and no amount of talking or bribing can get her to do it but as soon as Emma talks to her and asks her to do it, Miley will happily do it. She is a life saver sometimes.

School is one of Emma's favorite things. She loves to learn and so she is really thriving at school.  She has turned into such a good little reader and it is fun to watch her learn and grow more every day. She likes to go to the aquarium lately and learn about all of the animals there. Anything that is new information to her is great. She has been listening scripture stories at night before she goes to bed and just soaks up all of the stories.  She is going to know them better than me soon.

Emma loves arts and crafts. She is almost always coloring, cutting, and gluing something. The only thing that holds her back is her mom not wanting her to make too big of a mess. She is fun to hang out with and a funny little girl.  She loves to make people laugh.  She also loves to surprise Todd and I by making breakfast, making our bed, cleaning up the basement or just about anything that she knows will make our life easier.

Emma is mature beyond her years and sometimes it is hard to remember that she is only six years old when you talk to her.  She talks like she is much older than that and likes to act like she is one of the adults.

She is a very determined little girl and will try her hardest at almost everything that she does. She is a little hard on herself sometimes if she isn't perfect at what she is trying but she is getting better. She loves to ride bikes and do just about anything outside so she is excited for winter to be over.

Emma keeps us on our toes everyday because she never forgets anything.  The other day, Todd and Emma were listening to Pandora in his car and a commercial came on.  She proceeded to tell Todd that when she listens to music in her room at night while she is falling asleep sometimes a commercial about a weight loss pill comes on and then she continued to repeat the commercial to him almost word for word.  Her memory is truly amazing.

We are so proud of our little girl and can't believe how old she is getting.  Life with her is pretty great and we wouldn't change anything about her.  Happy Birthday to our beautiful 6 year old!
